Thank God and thanks to the wonders of Google, I was able to recover my entire data as well as the hard disk.
As I promised, let me tell you how I did it.
All I did was put up a search on Google for the error message ‘error performing inpage operation‘ which the system showed me. And Bam there were the results from so many forums where they had discussed a similar type of problem like mine. Digitalspy.com in particular was very helpful in answering to the point solution.
Then I ran chkdsk with the repair option from DOS prompt and Bam, the hard disk was back in action with all my data safe and sound.
It took me about 3 hours to complete the recovery process.

Here’s how to run chkdsk command on your computer should you face similar problem:
1. Start > Run > type in cmd then click OK to get a command prompt.
2. Type in chkdsk c: /r (replace c: with the drive letter of your hard drive).
You can also check out the following post that explains it very well:

But first, and I mean right now, take back up of all your important data. As they say, better safe then sorry.
Talk to you soon.
